Context Engineering for Sovereign AI

Practical context engineering patterns for building reliable, EU-sovereign enterprise agents — from strict guardrails and structured retrieval to production tactics like retries, escalation, and lightweight evals.

Presented at SAINT 2026 representing Agent Alpha GmbH.

LLMs have many failure cases when used in agentic workflows: they forget constraints, need constant reprompting, and use tools improperly. This talk is a practical tour of “context engineering” as we apply it at Agent Alpha, a knowledge assistant that routes questions, searches internal sources, and turns one-off expert answers into reusable knowledge.

We focus on reliability patterns that hold under sovereign AI requirements. You will see how strict system guardrails, robust templates, and structured retrieval reduce hallucinations and keep behaviour stable. How we design agent flows around EU-based deployment and data boundaries, including what changes when you want sensitive context to stay in-region and auditable. Finally, we share the tactics we use in production: retries and fallback paths, human escalation, and lightweight evals that catch regressions early. This is how we build trustworthy, sovereign, agentic AI.
